The existing post and beam garage is situated closest to the wetlands on the property with a lovely view of Wellfleet Marina. The main house on the property is a historical structure located away from the water as most older homes were sited wisely in the past. 

This project is to create a flexible space for use as a studio for the couple who recently retired as academic professionals and to accommodate guests in the summer season. New dormers are added to the second floor and the space is finished with simple materials. A small entry and stair extension along with a new deck is integrated with the existing structure.

The building has an understated presence and the space within is small and yet the room captures simple tranquility as a window through which nature and the activities in the marina can be observed.
